The CHP will begin a Maximum Enforcement Period today a 6 PM and will continue through Midnight Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 4th. Officers will be on the lookout for drivers who are driving impaired by drugs or alcohol. 1,244 arrests for DUI were made last year over the 4th, and 47 people lost their lives on the highways.
