By Jerry Henry on July 27, 2018.

A roadside fire on I-80, West of New Castle started shortly after 2 PM yesterday slowed traffic as one lane of the interstate was taken up by emergency vehicles as they fought the blasA(C). As temperatures hit a high of 97 degrees, firefighters fought back the fire as traffic was backed up from New Castle to Rocklin. Investigators reported they found pieces of a catalytic converter that had fallen off a passing vehicle and set dry grass along the highway on fire. One building was temporarily in jeopardy.
