The Tow Truck Crash last year on the Highway 50 bridge over the Sacramento River that killed the owners of the towing company has finally been cause reported by the CHP.
A year-long review by investigators determined that the tow truck driver failed to properly merge with a 70-foot-long big rig just ahead on the Pioneer Memorial Bridge on March 26, 2019. The tow trucka s front right wheel scraped the rear left wheel of a big rig near the apex of the bridge which caused the tow truck to careen across several lanes of the highway, smash into the guardrail then vaulted over the side of the bridge and fell 101 feet into the river waters below then sank 30 feet to the river bottom. Bodies of the owners were found about two weeks later downstream. Family members are questioning the report and say they dona t believe the report is conclusive.
