There is yet another phone scam going on that is calling cell phone numbers. The Placer County Sheriff is warning of a call that begins with an automated message stating the recipient has violated IRS and/or tax code laws. The message instructs you to call the phone number back within 24 hours to take care of the situation, or that you will be arrested by alocal cops.a

The Sheriffas Office says this is a common scam this time of year. They ask that you please do not provide either money or personal identifying information, which can be used to steal your identity. If you have actual warrants, you would be notified by mail first. No law enforcement agency or the IRS calls and asks for money, gift cards, or personal information. They say there is no need to report these calls to police.
