The second of two winter storms this week is roaring into Northern California, and it could bring snow as low as 1500 feet. Forecasters predict there could be as much as five to six feet of snow in higher elevations by Sunday, but lower communities at the 3000 foot level could see three to five feet as well.A A

Snow is expected to last through Friday, morning, and then come through again on late Friday and last through Saturday.

Travelers on I-80 who choose to travel up into the mountains could be facing whiteout conditions. The snow should stop falling in the mountains by late Saturday. Auburn, which sits below the weather bureauas predicted snow level, will get an inch or two of rain during the storm, but faces no significant travel impacts, according to the Weather Service.

The El Dorado Office of Emergency Services recommends that if you are in an area that is expected to be hit hard or lose power, that you are prepared.
