The re-construction program at Oroville dam has some local merchants worried that the usual summer water recreation customers will shy away this year from the area. Some merchants report that the construction program has helped their business because of the large number of construction workers that are on the construction job, but others that count on recreation visitors are staying away because of the dam water being lower which may affect boaters and fishermen. The Department is also spending an additional 55 million dollars on other improvements toward enhanced hiking trails and additional parking.
