Placer County Sheriffs responded to a call at a home on Olive Branch Road in Granite Bay on Friday shortly after 3 p.m. and discovered an 18-month baby boy had been mauled by a family pet, a 6-year-old female pit bull dog. The child was being watched by a relative who was able to get the child away from the dog, but deputies could do nothing to save the child who died after being rushed to Roseville Medical Center. The Pit Bull has been moved to Placer County Animal Control and is being quarantined. Sheriffa s office says their preliminary investigation is leaning to the incident being an accident.
