The Placer Union High School District Superintendent Dr. George S. Sziraki notified families and staff of its intent to hold a graduation ceremony in July for its Class of 2020. Social separation and no groups of more than 50 will be allowed during the ceremony. 87% of seniors voted to hold the ceremonies. That includes seniors from Placer, Foresthill, Colfax, Del Oro, Maidu Virtual Charter Academy, Confluence and Placer School for Adults. Officials said they respect the need to adhere to safety and health concerns, but the traditional walk down the aisle and get a diploma is a rite of passage that should not be denied.
