Sacramento City Council approved this week 23 million dollars to transform the Capitol Park Hotel in downtown into a triage center for the homeless. The building will have 180 beds for the homeless and currently serves 90 residents who are elderly and disabled. The city will lend Mercy Hospital 10 for the purchase which will be reimbursed. Another 3 million dollars will be required to move out current tenants. 10 million dollars will come from the Measure U tax approved by voters last year.
