In El Dorado County, less than a year and a half after groundbreaking for new sheriff facilities will open for business in the new headquarters on Monday. The 108,000-square-foot facility on Industrial Drive in Placerville will replace the main sheriffas headquarters at 300 Fair Lane and at least nine other locations that were leased around the county. The facility is not fully complete, but areas that serve the general public will be. The new facility will have a lot more privacy. The interview/interrogation rooms are tucked away upstairs with plenty of room for privacy. The new building will also provide a space where each employee will have their own desk. In the old building, sometimes two or three people were using the same desk.A The Public Safety Facility will house central dispatch, IT expansion, the sheriffas boardroom, captains and PIOas offices, the CFOas office, the emergency operations center, Office of Emergency Services and patrol operations. Rooms designed for briefings, conferences and other uses are all named after historical events and geographical landmarks like the Pony Express Room and the Rubicon Room. Officials say this new facility is designed and built to handle business for the next 100 years. It all begins Monday.
