Placer County has a new District Attorney, Morgan Gire. He was sworn in at yesterdaya s supervisor meeting and fills the position for the county after the registration of District Attorney Scott Owens in midterm in December. Gire was a Sacramento County assistant chief deputy and stated that he was happy to be coming home and has always loved Placer County. Gire will be considered for re-election for the position in 2022 but will serve the remainder of Owensa term, ending Jan. 2, 2023.
