For what may very well be the first time in 63 years, Auburn will be able to see itself on the movie screen. “Not As A Stranger” starring Robert Mitchum and Olivia De Havilland will be part of the Silver Screen series at the Beecher Room of the Auburn Library this Saturday.
There will be showings at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the film is free and popcorn is available to purchase. Silver Screen’s Susan Rushton said it’s likely the film hasn’t been shown in Auburn since its release in 1955.
The Stanley Kramer-directed medical romance-drama is based on a book that was written about the author’s time spent in Auburn. Neither the book nor the movie identify Auburn directly — the town is called Greenville instead.
