The Roseville suspect accused of killing four Roseville residents and confessing to the Mount Shasta police to the killings, appeared in Placer County Court Wednesday afternoon. 53-year-old Shankar Hangud sat in silence as he was read his rights. He told the judge he would represent himself several times then accepted a public defender. Hangud faces four counts of murder, accused of killing four people, two adults and two children, all believed by authorities to be members of his family. Placer County District Attorneyas paperwork shows that two murders happened in Placer County on or about October 7th, and the third took pace a day later, however, did not state the location. The final killing is believed to have taken place on or about October 13th in Siskiyou County where Hangud turned himself in to local Mount Shasta police and the body was discovered inside his vehicle. It is believed that one of the victims was a member of the Silverado Middle School in Roseville, and school officials are reacting with remorse and sadness at the loss of a student. The case has been moved to October 25th when defense is expected to enter a plea.
