Two dead, K-9 shot, in a chaos situation yesterday evening in South Placer County. Just after 7 p.m. yesterday, the Placer County Sheriffas dispatch center began receiving several 911 calls reporting a man brandishing a weapon and firing shots in south Placer County. These incidents occurred at several locations between Loomis and Newcastle. Two victims were shot at in two separate locations, and one of the gunshot victims has died. Sources said that the incident started at a business in Newcastle where the owner identified the shooter driving a black truck with a Harley Motorcycle in the back. Shots were also reported into a New Castle home, and at vehicles and businesses near Taylor and King Roads in Penryn. One victim was shot at the Loomis Fire Station and another at a residence in Penryn.

The suspect was located crashed into the center divider on Interstate 80 near the Highway 65 overpass, where he was confronted by officers and deputies. This resulted in an officer-involved shooting. The suspect was shot and killed.

A sheriffas K-9 that was shot during the incident is injured, but expected to recover.

The Placer County Sheriffas Office is investigating the homicide and the incidents in south Placer County that led up to the officer-involved shooting. The Roseville Police Department will be investigating the officer-involved shooting since it occurred within the city limits of Roseville.
