By Jerry Henry on August 24, 2018.

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Michael Sweet read the 26 counts against Joseph James DeAngeloa 13 for murder, 13 tied to sexual assaults, yesterday in a Sacramento Court as the beginning of a trial against the 72 year old Carmichael man accused of being the Gold State Killer. The Sacramento District Attorneyas office announced they are asking for an inquiry into whether DeAngelo should be required to seek his own legal representation rather than the Public Defenderas office in the county who would cost taxpayers in the defense in the expected long trial. Because of the size of the Sacramento County population, state money for the trial would not be available and all costs would fall on the county. A Lawyers for DeAngelo have not entered a plea in the case and the judge has set December 6th for the next hearing.
