(FRIDAY 10-19-18) Placer county sheriffs dive team searched a local lake, believed to be Lake Theodore East of Clipper gap, A yesterday looking for the weapon used by Christian Valley A area residentA 41 year old David De La Cruz Tuesday afternoon wounding a male following a confrontation at the Quick Lube services center off highway 49 in Auburn.A La Cruise drove up to the center about 2 PM Tuesday afternoon to talk with a female employee who came out of the center and talked with him, then returned back inside of the center. De La Cruz followed her, and became engaged with males in an argument that escalated into a confrontation and De La Cruz pulled a handgun and pointed it at several people inside the center. One male was shot and was transported to a local hospital. De La Cruz then left the building and drove from the scene in a 1992 Chevy 1500 pickup which was located at Clipper Gap Road at 6:15 PM Tuesday but De La Cruz was missing until arrested Wednesday morning by Placer County Sheriffas. Auburn police have identified the man that was shot, and he is being called a local hero. Joe Schaefer of Auburn attempted to stop De La Cruz and was shot with what was believed to be aimed at the woman he had been talking with outside the service center, then followed her into the building drawing a handgun and shooting several shots. Schaefer was the only person hit by a bullet.
