The Auburn City Council met Monday night, and during the closed session, discussed what had been reported as a negotiation by the city and Wells Fargo Bank on the city purchasing the bank building located in downtown Auburn at 949 Lincoln Way, across from Central Square. The building has been vacant since the bank moved away in 2016. The building was constructed in 1962 by Placer Savings and Loan. Mayor Cheryll Macki stated at Meddlers on Tuesday morning the city reviewed the opportunity to receive the building which was offered by the bank to the city on November, as a donation to the city, but after study and consideration, and determining the investment that would be required to make the building habitable, they would not move forward with the project. Also, the mayor said the city does not desire to enter a real estate investment with so many other needed projects that are facing the city that need funded and completed.
