Placer County Sheriffa s arrested a 25-year-old man Tuesday after he broke into a home in Colfax and started a fire. Jose Juan Rocha III broke into the home through a back door and startled the female homeowner who ran from the home in a panic. Deputies responded to a call about 10 am and when they arrived, they heard crashing sounds, lots of chaos then heard the fire alarm go off. Deputies left their cars and caught Rocha who went into custody without an incident. Deputies then saw smoke billowing from the kitchen area, grabbed fire extinguishers, and put out the fire they believed the suspect had started. The home suffered smoke damage. Rocha was booked into the Placer County Main Jail in Auburn and is being held on a bail of 245 thousand dollars.
