Fire officials are still investigating the four-alarm fire that broke out Monday and severely damaged the Blue Diamond almond plant on C street in Sacramento. The fire started on the second story of the building and spread to the fourth floor. The area housed major manufacturing machines in the plant that functions as a co-op to Almond Orchards throughout California and is a highly recognized brand name. California processes about 80 percent of the worlds almond supply, Blue Diamond is the largest processor. OfficialsA are reporting that the fire could affect the industry which may also tip pricing with the demand and ability to produce may disconnect with the large facility in Sacramento being shut down due to the fire.
