A Sacramento area lawyer who has become known in the localA business world as an aggressive American Disabilities Act server of notification for any violation and demanding settlements which has driven many small businessas out of business, has now become the target of a federal grand Jury finding that is charging he filed fraudulent tax returns on funds he received from these ADA lawsuits. Scott N Johnson tagged with the name aWheelchair Bandita has an indictment that alleges Johnson understated his income in the years 2012 through 2014 from ADA lawsuits filed. Johnson faces up to three years in prison and 100 thousand dollars fine for each of three counts that were filed on Wednesday. Johnson has been very active in the Northern California area for several years and has filed more than 2900 lawsuits in the Federal Eastern District which is based in California and another 914 in the Northern District of California based in San Francisco. In the early years Johnson used the ADA statutes to threaten local business with violations of the ADA act, and demanded payments of 3 and 4 thousand dollars to not formally file a lawsuit. Johnson then returned and found more violations and threatened again and received more payments. Lawyer Johnson has also had some legal problems with lawsuits filed against him by his employees. Johnson is a certified paraplegic and whether he will see time behind bars is still up to the courts. In any case, this may be the last of the aWheelchair Bandita.
