By Jerry Henry on July 31, 2019.
A plan which has opened to the public scrutiny and comment from local citizens by the Auburn State Recreation area could bring two new American River Bridge crossing to the area. One bridge is proposed at Greenwood where a bridge was washed out in the 1960a s following a dam break. Another crossing is proposed near China Bar where the river was re-routed through a tunnel that was part of the Auburn Dam project. This would be available to emergency vehicles only. Written comments are due by Sept. 3 and the draft environmental documents can be found at www.parks.ca.gov/PlanASRA or viewed at the Auburn sector office, 501 El Dorado St. in Auburn.
