The Rocklin City council approved an ordinance to control short term rentals in the city. They are the latest city to address concerns about home owners who have vacant homes in neighborhoods that are placed for short term rental on the internet. Several incidents in the Sacramento area have caused lawmakers to look at the problems of noisy parties, on street parking and loud noise into late hours. Recent reports of shootings, fights, and killings in Elk Grove and Fair Oaks has caused reaction. A Cities in Tahoe are also considering rules and regulations over these AirB&B short term rentals. The Rocklin ordinance will restrict these rentals to 90 days per year, have someone responsible nearby to respond to issues, limits on how many people per bedroom and visitors not allowed to stay after 10 p.m. No cost permits will also be required, and can be cancelled if there are infractions occur.
