A 39 year old man is being sought by police agencies in Sacramento County and Rancho Cordova after he was seen assaulting his step children while floating down the American River in a raft with the children on board. One child was hit in the head, the other thrown into the river without a life raft. The man, identified as Johnny Mercado then jumped into the water brandishing a knife. Both Children are ok and sheriffs and police are searching for the man and when found he will face child endangerment charges.
