State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara spoke before hundreds of concerned Placer County residents last night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. The discussion covered most of the issues that are hitting Placer County Residents, cancellation of fire protection insurance, 2 and 3 times increase in premiums, A and insurance companies ignoring property owners clearing their property and not getting any credit from these actions. Lara said his office does not have authority over these companies, and cannot force these companies to write policies in these communities. Lara said he would prefer state lawmakers pass legislation that would give his department more authority rather than requiring him to issue emergency regulations.
