A Federal judge temporary suspended a new California Law that stated the President of the US and other candidates for federal office had to release 5 years of personal income tax filings or their name could be held from appearing on the California ballot next year. The California bill, Senate bill 27, was aimed directly at President Trump who has refused to release his returns. His lawyers argued that the law is unconstitutional since the federal government has jurisdiction over requirements for candidates running for president. Gov. Newsom supported the California bill. State attorneys are expected to appeal which the outcome could influence other states that are heading down the same path. The Federal judgea s official opinion will be published on October 1st. The California primary is March 3, 2020.
