By Jerry Henry on September 27, 2019.
The Butte County Sheriffa s office announced Wednesday that DNA results have changed the total number of killed victims in the Paradise Wildfire disaster last year to 85. There is officially still one unidentified victim which forensic officials are still working. The Campfire wiped out the community of Paradise, and the most recent discovery was that bone fragments thought to belong to another person were identified as heat altered bone fragments of the same person, and therefore decreased the number of deaths to 85. It still is the most costly wildfire in the history of California, and it is also still being blamed on the California Power Utility, PG&E caused by faulty equipment on one of the main overhead power line systems feeding into the area that sparked the fire which was rich with foliage fuel, high winds, and high temperatures.
