Placer County Public Health officials reported Monday that a Placer healthcare worker has tested presumptively positive for COVID-19, the coronavirus disease which began in China in 2019. This is the first confirmed case in Placer County. The Placer County individual is a North Bay, Vacavalley Hospital healthcare worker who had close contact with a confirmed case in Solano County before that case was transferred to UC Davis Medical Center and later tested for the virus. The Placer County patient is isolated at home with mild symptoms. Family members are also in isolation and quarantined. The Placer County resident, who commutes to the Vacaville hospital, was one of three healthcare workers from that hospital who tested positive for COVID-19.
