California students fell behind on English and math scores during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the stateas first release of testing data since the coronavirus interrupted two years of in-class education. Sacramento school districts fared worse, lagging statewide averages. Data by the California Department of Education Monday showed only two of 14 districts, Folsom Cordova Unified and Elk Grove Unified, outperformed the state. There were achievement gaps when the data was broken down by race. For example, 57% of white 11th graders in Sacramento City Unified met or exceeded standards on English language arts assessment, only 19% of Black 11th graders did the same. As usual, there is no explanation as to why this is true. Is it the teachers, environment, attitude, or emotional, or traditional? It is interesting when stats are released, and show a major shift in results, only the political analysis is shown so everyone must ask the obvious. Why are there major differences in race bent results, but no analysis of why, and there is always an answer other than political. What is the difference between races, and why. Just asking?
