There is a growing unrest between major players in California on funding for Fire abatement, firefighting, distribution and reimbursed monies between the agencies. Audits and threatened changes are making everyone nervous. The focus appears to be the US Forest Service, Cal Fire, Local Fire Departments, and other Federal Government funding agencies that may become involved. The concerns with the state facing another potential dangerous fire season, after three disastrous seasons with major loss of assets and lives, has sparked Senior Senator Diane Feinstein to register concern by letters sent to various agency leaders urging that processes and reimbursement programs remain unchanged until audits and other examinations are complete.A The confusion that appears to be present in California has also sparked criticism from President Trump who has threatened to slash firefighting assistance payments which could cripple fire departments who face loss of millions of federal dollars they desperately need to survive. The US Forest Department is accusing major over billing to the feds for reimbursements by state and local companies.
