The Auburn Recreation District board is considering a conditional-sale agreement of Mount Vernon Park to a Los Angeles nonprofit. They are looking at using the six acres of land for an affordable housing project that only would rent to people age 55 and up.

The property, near the Nevada Street-Palm Avenue crossroads, would be next to Palm Terrace Apartments, another affordable housing project. The recreation district board is going to hold a public hearing March 29 to consider a purchase and sale agreement.
