The Auburn City Council passed new regulations over the operation of massage parlors at last nighta s meeting. Persons employed in the massage business in the city cannot report for work in see-through clothing or swim wear, effective with the ordinance effect date of August 8. The Auburn police chief will be responsible for the administration of the new rules. Other rules that will go in effect in August, there cannot be a side door for customers to enter the premise, the front door must be open during open business hours, and any alert system that police are on premise is forbidden. Public Safety Director John Ruffcorn said that the city encourages the ethical practice of massage therapy as an important healing art while working to prevent and discourage the misuse of massage therapy as a front for prostitution activities.
