CalTrans officials say they are attempting to fill 1000 jobs throughout the state. With unemployment at an all time low, these positions are not filling up fast enough to keep up with the demand facing CalTrans with long lines to service customers, and also process the paper flows, computer processes, and issue of federal ID cards. There are several types of jobs open including supervisory, surveyors and engineers.A Also there are many entry level jobs open. Personnel officials say also that 55 percent of the CalTrans workforce is over 50 years of age.
