The State Department of Finance auditors released the results of their audit of the DMV. The release said Californiaa s Department of Motor Vehicles has a significant deficienciesa and an a outdateda organizational structure that set conditions for poor customer service and the failed implementation of a new ID program. The report also cited that the DMV has a reactive culture that has adversely impacted customer service, has issues with misleading wait times, accepts employees not showing up to work on time, and suffers from outdated technology. The Audit was ordered by former Gov. Jerry Brown, and Gov. Newman formed a a Strike Teama A to find solutions to reported problems with the DMV. Undercover agents that performed the audit reported 30% of the customer service windows were closed during business hours, and at some offices, employees did not even greet customers. In general the 67 page audit revealed extensive management, training and technology failures.
