Placer County Executive Officer Todd Leopold said yesterday that Dr. Aimee Sisson, serving as the Placer County Public Health Officer and Public Health Director, has submitted her resignation effective end of September 25th. The resignation comes just one day after the Placer County Supervisors voted unanimously to declare through a resolution that the emergency status caused by the COVID 19 virus was over, a responsibility that was assigned to the Health Directors position through a state statute in 2019. This was changed by the supervisors with a resolution that was started in may when certain members of the supervisors board were upset with the department and Sisson on the way testing and reporting of the test results were being broadcast. Dr. Sisson said in her letter that the action by the Supervisors made it clear that she could no longer effectively serve, in her current role. Sisson has held the position for 11 months. Dr. Rob Oldham, the incoming Health and Human Resources Director, and the Board of Supervisors announced they will immediately start a search for Dr. Sissonas replacement.
