A large fire broke out early this morning on one of three barges being used for the South Lake Tahoe Fire Works display. Fire started at 12:27 AM with crews on board attempting to extinguish but could not. Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District responded with a new Fire Boat recently purchased with a grant, and had the fire out in 6 minutes. They also surrounded the barge with a boom to contain any possible contamination to the lake water.A Cause is under investigation.
