The California state legislature must have an agreement on the budget by next Monday or their paychecks will be rescinded until they agree. They have already reported displeasure at the Governora s version of the budget which severely cuts education and medical services, and also reflects a loss of 54 billion dollars caused by the coronavirus pandemic which started in March and restoration of California business is still being rolled out. State senators submitted their version of the budget which said it would hold off draconian cuts and basically said they would tee up for a fight with the Trump administration for guidance for California to get through what may become a deep recession. In other words, they expect another federal bail-out so they do not have to deal with this budget deficit. All eyes will be on the legislature this week to see if their delay tactic will present any possible solution before next Monday. One major difference is the Gov. proposes a 10% cut to state employees and cancelling wages for next year while the legislature does not address in any wage reduction. A look at the agenda for the week does not show any scheduled budget itemsin the house and however the CA Senate does have a 9 a.m. budget and fiscal review on Friday June 12th with the committee on Budget with16 measures listed for discussion.
