I was first elected to serve the People of Placer County in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and again in 2016 to another four-year term as your District 5 Supervisor. I am excited and honored to serve the people of Placer County and strive to make a difference in all the communities of District 5 and Placer County as a whole.

As a result of re-districting in 2011, I am now proud to serve the City of Auburn and additional areas of North Auburn, as well as the original communities of District 5 which extend from Auburn, through Meadow Vista, Colfax, Dutch Flat/Alta, Foresthill, Donner Summit, Olympic Valley, Alpine Meadows and the Martis Valley, continuing all the way up to and along the West and North Shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe including Homewood, Tahoe City and Kings Beach.

As your Supervisor, I continue to look for, and work for, positive changes that will benefit our local communities and the County for years to come. We are now constructing a Regional Sewer Project in the West end of the County, are looking to set policies for potential Middle Fork Project revenues that should add valuable funding to Placer County beginning in 2016, and are moving forward on the long awaited Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project in the East end of the County. I continue to work with my fellow Supervisors to implement decisions relating to Forest Biomass Reduction and Wildfire Treatments in conjunction with renewable energy generation, Public Safety/Prison Realignment, the Redevelopment Agency Dissolution, and opening the South Placer Justice Center.

As a former volunteer firefighter and the wife of a professional firefighter, I pledge to work with all stakeholders to appropriately manage our public and private lands in order to reduce fire danger. As seen in the recent “Robbers Fire” and aAmerican Fire,a we need to actively work toward fuel reduction efforts and protecting life, property, and the environment from the danger of fire in our heavily forested District 5 as well as the rest of Placer County.

There are six Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) in District 5 that meet on a monthly basis and one that meets quarterly. TheseA MACsA serve as an important voice of the community which advises the Board of Supervisors. They meet in North Auburn, Foresthill, Meadow Vista, Colfax, Norden, Squaw Valley, and North Tahoe (alternating between Kings Beach and Tahoe City). For more information and agendas please visit theA District 5 Event Calendar. I also hold regularly scheduled casual coffees in Tahoe City, Colfax, Foresthill and Downtown Auburn.

It is important that your voice be heard. PleaseA contact the officeA at any time if you have questions, concerns, or would like to get involved with shaping your county government and join me as we continue the fight to aPreserve, Protect, Restore, and Respecta Placer County.

Thank You,

Jennifer Montgomery
