Auburn Cruise Nite which is held the second Friday of the month from May through September, brings together more than 300 pre-1972 vehicles along Lincoln Way, each backed into a parking spot for a typical crowd of about 2,000 to admire as they do a foot cruise up and down the street.

Cruise Niteas 38th year starts Friday, May 13, and other than the showcase vehicles being at least 50 years old, thereas no telling what to expect. Held on the second Friday of the month from May through September, Cruise Nite brings together more than 300 pre-1972 vehicles along Lincoln Way, each backed into a parking spot for a typical crowd of about 2,000 to admire as they do a foot cruise up and down the street.

Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway is gearing up for its 27th season at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Opening night is Friday, May 20, with the first of six events in the Team SOS Challenge the following week.

In addition to the usual divisions from adults down to kids, Fast Fridaysa 19-race schedule will include four appearances by the popular sidecars, including the extreme sidecar nationals Sept. 3; and USA vs. the World.

Fast Fridays has added a pairs championship this year, with teams of two facing each other.

After more than 7 feet of snow dumped over the Sierra in April, Palisades Tahoe will extend its ski season to Memorial Day, meaning the ski resort will operate Lake Tahoeas longest winter season. Moving forward, the resort will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The resort also will be open for the holiday weekend, including Monday, May 30. Lifts will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., though hours could shift to 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. if the resort starts ato see significant snowmelt again.a
