A $50 dollar banner has set off a local Auburn controversy and is occupying a position on the front page of the Auburn Journal this morning. The banner, paid for and placed by Auburn Park Board Director Scott Holbrook advertising a music fest coming up in Auburn, sparked action and comments by Gary Moffat, a recent owner of a restaurant in Old Town, who admitted in the Auburn Park Commission meeting last Thursday that he had slashed the banner because there was no permit issued and it had been placed illegally on a fence at the recently rehabbed Herchel Young Park in Old Town.A Discussion by many Auburn leaders and interested parties occupied a majority of time at the board meeting, and obviously continues as a major conversation today. Stay Tuned.
