The California Highway Patrol announced they will start the Maximum Enforcement Period at 6 p.m. on Tuesday December 24th, and concludes Wednesday, December 25th on Christmas day. All available officers will on the highways for the enhanced enforcement to assist any drivers that need help. According to data from the CHPas Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System, at least 16 people were killed and nearly 350 others were injured in collisions involving impaired drivers in California throughout the 102-hour holiday enforcement period last year. Also last year, 1,166 drivers were arrested for DUI.
