The Nevada Street Sidewalk, bike lane and road improvement project is back on again. Auburn City Council will consider bids at tonighta s council meeting. Gabe Mendez Inc. on Newcastle – the contractor on the first phase of the project – came in with the low bid of $4.34 million. McCuen Construction Inc. of Loomis’ bid was $4.42 million.
With a 10 percent contingency added to the Mendez bid, Auburn staff is recommending that the City Council award the project to the low bidder, allocating a total of $4.78 million. The project will cover a section of Nevada Street that does not now have a sidewalk which stretches from Fulweller Avenue to the inter-state on ramp to I-80.
