Update on the Sliger Fire in Placer County on the American River Canyon. A Cal Fire has lifted the mandatory evacuations from the Sliger Fire. A People may return to their homes in the affected areas of McKeon Ponderosa Road and all surrounding areas. Residents are still under an aAdvisorya warning in case the fire status changes. There are currently no other restrictions in any areas of Placer County in regards to this fire. Residents in the Todd Valley and surrounding areas are advised that the fire behavior may change and effect the status of evacuations. A Cal Fire has 47 fire engines, 22 crews, 3 helicopters, 4 dozers and 6 water tenders on this fire. Forward progress has stopped. A !05 acres burned, and 45% contained as of 7:00 am today. Firefighters continue to build containment lines and strengthen existing lines. Fire activity has decreased significantly. Placer County Sheriff’s Office is working on reducing mandatory evacuations to advisory.

Update on North Fire at Emigrant Gap: 999 acres burned, 10% contained, estimated containment forecast is 9-20-18. Fire continues to build in very rough terrain with heavy timber and brush two feet or more high. Crews are still attempting to get fire lines in place for containment.
