Several brewing companies based in the foothills will participate in the local Pink Boots Societyas annual Collaboration Brew Day on March 8, that also happens to be International Womenas Day.

The Pink Boots Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women in the beer industry advance their careers through educational and professional development opportunities.

The event will produce beers of which proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Pink Boots Society organization. Some of the breweries participating include Loomis Basin Brewing Co., New Glory Craft Brewery, Track 7 Brewing Company, Moksa Brewing Company, Blue Note Brewing Company, Yolo Brewing Company, Mraz Brewing Company, Fort Rock Brewing and Flatland Brewing Company.

“It’s a global brew day event so all of the PBS chapters all collaborate with brewers in their areas to brew a beer that will raise proceeds to go back to the non-profit. We use this money to provide scholarships to our members and opportunities. We have doubled the participation since last year on a global scale,”said Lindsey Nelson, Pink Boots Society’s Sacramento Chapter leader. “This year in the Sacramento area, we have nine happening. It’s for a great cause and we are super excited.”

The brew day is the organizationas biggest fundraiser and more than 210 teams from several countries are participating in this yearas event, more than double last yearas number.
