Placer Higha s RedStar Drumline, 22 dedicated Placer High School musicians, month was awarded the AA Championship at the Northern California Band Associationa s Winter Championships after placing first in their performance.
Drumline is a section of percussion instruments that is usually played as part of a musical marching ensemble; in this case, the group marched inside high school gyms.
Placer High School Music Director Dave Lawrenson said students were judged on musical, visual and design aspects of their nearly six-minute performances. The team went undefeated in the seasona s five competitions, which he said is a unheard of.a
