The Sacramento City Council approved the mayor Steinberg proposal to take 47 million dollars out of the hotel tax revenue budget and revitalize the Old Town water front. The plan calles for several enhancements and additions such as a lawn, concert stage, rooftop bars, an interactive water fountain and other entertainment features. Tax revenues from the Old Town area is now about 700 thousand dollars annually and with the new improvements it is expected to double. The river front manager outlined six major projects that will cost 39 million dollars that includes a new building, festival lawn, playground area for kids, an interactive water fountain, and a floating terrace with swimming and stage area for performances plus an event deck on top of the Sacramento History Museum for performances and picnicking.
