The Department of Water Resources reported yesterday they have observed more than double the snow depth and water content over last month in the Sierra Snow Pack at the Phillips Station near Echo Summit when they took measurement this week. The recordings show 113 inches of snow depth and snow water equivalent at 43.5 inches.A A month ago at the February survey (Jan. 31), snow-water equivalent had reached 100 percent of the statewide average (17.3 inches). Statewide snow water equivalent has soared to 153 percent of average (37.1 inches), nearly six times more water than recorded last Feb. 28 (just 5.5 inches) and already 33 percent above Californiaa s average accumulation by April 1. The bureau says they expect good precipitation through April this year.
