The new craze of motorized scooters is causing some angst in South Lake Tahoe. A company called Lime makes the scooters readily available on an iPhone apt, and are becoming very popular. California law permits them however they cannot ride on sidewalks, must wear a helmet, and if the speed limit for vehicles is over 25 miles per hour, they must stay in the bike lane. Complaints are that riders switch lanes without signals, riding into traffic without looking, and crossing highways at random, causing potential serious risk to themselves and others.
