Areas burned by the summer wildfires in Northern California are now being warned that the rain season may bring toxic flooding. Flash flooding is also a danger because the extreme heat baked the soil and much of it become non-absorbent which allows the water to speed across it and causes rocks and trees to slide down hills onto other land, and possible highways.A The US Geological department has released maps that highlight the highest risk areas The Delta, Carr and Hirz fires near and north of Redding are shown as 80% risk of flood damage.A The National Weather Service is forecasting a warmer winter and a weak El Nino condition bringing higher than normal Rain this year.
